Access Grid Technology In OKPRN
Access Grid (AG) is a cutting-edge new technology that enables group-to-group super-speed audio-visual collaborations. An AG Node consists of multimedia displays, presentation and interactions environments, interfaces to grid middleware, and interfaces to visualization environments to support human interaction across the grid. Examples of usage include large-scale distributed meetings, collaborative teamwork sessions, seminars, lectures, tutorials, and training.

An Access Grid Node typically involves 3-20 people per site. Access Grid Nodes are designed spaces that support the high-end audio/video technology needed to provide a compelling and productive user experience. AG node technology was pioneered at the Futures Lab of Argonne National Labs. A medium-size Access Grid Node is available at the University Of Oklahoma HSC Department of Family Medicine, Oklahoma Center For Family Medicine Research (OCFMR).

OKPRN utilizes this node to participate in national meetings and conferences with other Practice-Based Research Networks (PBRNs), maintain communications among OKPRN practices and committee members and support collaboration between Practice Enhancement Assistants (PEAs).
