Electronic Primary Care Research Network (ePCRN)

Join the Future of Practice-Based Research

What is ePCRN?

The electronic Primary Care Research Network (ePCRN) is project funded by the National Institutes of Health, "Re-engineering the Clinical Research Enterprise". It is being administered by the Federation of Practice Based Research Network (FPBRN) a national organization of primary care practice-based research networks (PBRNs) and the University of Minnesota . The intent of the project is to make it possible for PBRNs, like OKPRN to participate in large national randomized controlled trials via the Internet.

The ePCRN also supports primary care providers in conducting other types of clinical research in their practices, and provides secure, cutting-edge technology along with training, support, and technical assistance.

In addition to the research-related goals of the project, practices are able to use the same technology to create disease registries and to report quality indicators. This technology also enhances communication and coordination between practices.

Benefits to OKPRN:

1. Full participation in a ground-breaking primary care research initiative
2. Access to technologies for patient registries, data entry and tracking
3. Opportunities for quality improvement efforts in patient care
4. Opportunities for collaborative research projects and publications
5. Customized information linking the network to cutting edge research
5. Up to 25 fobs (secure access keys to the ePCRN) provided
